todd sones
great lessons today.
weight on balls of foot
straighten knees and bend over more
hands straight back, feel like right hand is going into right pocket
connected-whole body moves club back and up. wrist cock is gradual. glove under left armpit.
club should feel it is straight up at end of backswing (to correct for flat)
setup-no forward press, ball slightly in front of zipper.
make sure on driver, club is laid off at top. feel that laid off position.
if club stays on plane, dispersion will drop significantly
chipping-
ball at instep right foot
keep weight forward
hit ball with descending blow.
acclerate through shot
don't be afraid to use 58
club upright, but not forward pressed

to get the line you want
underhand throw with the right hand
and then visualize the hands following that path.
focus in front of the ball.
keep right hand off the shaft as much as possible, prevents casting.
work on minimizing rotation back to keep hands on plane and with minimal need to rotate on downswing. that is why you are hooking it off the planet. need to adjust wrist rotation to new path of wrists/minimize clubface rotation back and through
continiue to work on short, precise backswing length

see zach johnson's swing
note short backswing and strong grip on backswing. note how long right arm stays straight in follow through.
visualize plane you want as well as line.
rotate hard without hesitation.
grip in fingers of left hand/tour striker
minimize opening of club on backswing.

tempo tempo tempo
watch right hand grip
keep backswing short/backswing is just a few inches of arm motion
work on flattening approach/keep elbows level throughout
keep eyes 4" ahead of ball
let toe of club close
keep turning! shaft lean is important. keep left arm moving
finish follow through
chipping
commit to toe down, upright shaft, and putting grip.
use this from bunker or use belly shot with short backswing and wedge.
rule of 12

golf lesson kyle, 8/31/2010
1) ball has crept forward, bring it back. 6i just forward of center
2) shoulders a tad open
3) weight tends to fall backward, be able to dance on heels, move away from ball slightly and lean on shoelaces.
4) alignment alignment alignment! see the line first, a few feet in front of ball. set up clubface, then right foot then left foot.
tendency to rush swing and hands get ahead of body, clubface is open that is why ball goes right.

playing lesson kyle 8/1/2010
alignment continues to be a challenge. tend to align left.
ball position tends to creep back, especially for hybrids. this is what causes terrible lefts.
work on drill -2 tees serve as gate. ball just forward of gate. face is aligned between tees. pin 3 feet forward serves as intermediate target. align to intermediate target rather than setting up clubface behind ball. This also works for putting.
tendency is to not get weight forward and finish shot when i feel shots are tough.
golf is feel, visualize ball going where you want. body will make it happen.
punch shot. ball only slightly backward, finish low.
mentally-be confident and positive.
hole 1-driver is okay
hole 2-leave 160 out. wedge for second shot.
hole 3-driver okay, align carefully
hole 4- consider hybrid when tees are back
hole 5- driver okay, 4 wood okay. align carefully.
hole 6-hybrid hybrid wedge-
shot projected 44 with kyle

new laws of golf
say i need to work on controlling clubface.
to do that, i need to swing within myself.
worry about hooking badly with hybrids, may need to consider swapping 28 out for 5iron.
open clubface slightly to insure that at least i won't duck hook.
use floyd style chipping
think about alignment. esp for putting. shoulders should be parallel to target line.
swing down the line. have a free release. tendency is to be afraid to hit it too long. see.feel.trust.
good things will happen.
rhythm. flyfishing. think with putter and also with clubs.

bandon lessons
finish swing good things happen
golf's sacred journey ebook-balance rhythm patience--think flyfishing. see.feel.trust
athletic stance
putting grip, see videos and photos in bandon file
ball position, two balls in left instep, eyes over ball. athletic stance.
visualize 3 foot circle for ball to wind up in, want uphill putt if you can get it.
see.feel.trust. patience, flyfishing. hit with big muscles.
when putting think about making it. be aggressive. drop the putter on the ball focus in front of the ball.

becky lesson 2 and 3 full swing
lesson 2 5/23
alignment is problematic. body lines are not parallel to target lines.
finish the swing. hold follow thru. finish should match backswing
watch for standing up on downswing/maintain tush line.
lesson 3 5/30
alignment much improved.
ball position tends to be back, leading to pulls and duck hooks. 4 wood should be just inside left heel.
watch tempo-think wedge swing. tempo is rushed, tends to lead to duck hooks
finish position improved greatly.

short game lesson becky #1
putting-practice maintaining triangle by putting with grip in palms and fingers straight down. work on lag putting.
chipping-5 rules
ball inside right foot
choke up
open stance
forward press
keep clubhead low to ground/short backswing
(for me, hold finish--go right down line)
use different clubs as necessary, do not increase backswing length as that introduces inconsistency. figure out distance necessary. chip from back part of fringe.
-------------------
played today==46
sprayed 4 wood off tee. make sure weight turn first (lighthouse drill) when weight doesn't get to front leg, ball slices left. square up clubface.
putted pretty well, chipped well.
first birdie on hole 8.
on hole 2, no need to take over trees. make sure second shot stays in upper half. probably can use 21 hybrid.
on hole 3, if slicing, aim right at bunker. need to stay away from trees on right side.
on hole 5, prob can use 21 hybrid. ob on right side.
on hole 6, make sure to take line carefully if using 4 wood for second shot as OB is on left side of fairway after bridge.

new thoughts
backswing is few inches
downswing initiated with right knee
arms along for the ride
hummmm during downswing to remove hit impact.
in the sand visualize line just before ball. right hand off to avoid decelerate. finish high. turn chest!

2010 thoughts
center of clubface on ball
imagine club is a ruler, both hands need to square club
drive right elbow to ball
keep clubshaft on right index finger hook! like that orange swing aid thing
alignment alignment alignment!
set head before swing.
visualize pinching ball off turf.
turn body all the way to finish.
control tempo.
remember tourstriker video which shows how far ahead hands are at impact with head back.
